Carmanah Walbran 2018

Off road 300km trip into Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park. Originally I thought I was going to the province run campground but instead I followed the driving instructions from a random site found while searching Friends of Carmanah Walbran.

I inadvertently learned some things about the British Columbia timber industry and how exporting raw logs is bad economics. I think this spot was occupied with protesters at one point by the classic chain-yourself-to-a-tree hippies.

It was not a bad experience at all, just slightly unexpected. I ended up staying at a camp with well water, an army tent, a cooking tent, and many other supplies.
